Homework
All students are responsible for completing their assignments either daily, weekly or monthly. Each student has a work plan and knows what is expected each day. If they are falling behind on their work plan and need to complete assignments at home, they will have homework. If they are on-task in class, they will rarely have nightly homework. Due to our project-based learning environment, students are working on various projects throughout the year. They may have to complete some portions of the projects at home.
Academic research has consistently found homework to either negatively affect or not affect achievement. I will focus on assignments that encourage reflection and conversations at home. Your student is working hard all day in my class. At night I would like them to play sports, play outside, have family dinners and read for 30 minutes before bedtime.
